What Is 11.11?

11.11 goes by a few names: Singles’ Day, Double 11 or the Global Shopping Festival. It started in China as a celebration of being single, since the date is four “1”s in a row. Alibaba, the company behind AliExpress, turned it into a shopping festival.

It has since grown into the biggest sales event in the world. Alibaba’s 11.11 has generated tens of billions of dollars in sales, more than Black Friday, more than Cyber Monday, and more than the GDP of some countries.

Despite the name, 11.11 is more of a weeklong marathon than a single day. AliExpress advertises discounts of up to 90% off across millions of products, with more than 180,000 participating brands worldwide. Some great deals await on EDC items.

11.11 vs. Black Friday vs. Prime Day

All three are huge sales, but they work differently. Here’s how they stack up in 2026.

In my experience with AliExpress shipping (Usually China to Arizona), most of my orders arrive in 9-11 days. Occasionally slower or faster by a day or two.

Timing is 11.11’s biggest advantage. Both Amazon sales are already over for 2026, and Black Friday is still more than two weeks away. You can shop 11.11 before your holiday budget is spent, then save what’s left for the Black Friday deals you actually want.

Shipping is the trade-off. Many AliExpress orders ship from overseas and can take a couple of weeks. That’s another reason to buy during 11.11 instead of waiting for AliExpress’s Black Friday sale: order in mid-November and your gear has a better chance of arriving before the holidays.

Competition drives the prices. On Prime Day you’re mostly shopping one store’s deals. On 11.11, thousands of sellers compete for the same customers, so the same knife can be listed at very different prices. Shopping around pays off.

How to Shop 11.11 for EDC Gear

1. Build your cart during warm-up. Add knives to your cart or wishlist on Nov. 8–10 so you’re ready when deals go live at midnight PST on the 11th.

3. Buy from the official store. Look for the brand’s “Official Store” badge. Check the seller rating and read reviews with real photos.
4. Check the specs. Confirm the blade steel, lock type and handle material. A listing that just says “stainless steel” is a red flag.
5. Watch the before price. Some sellers raise prices before the sale so the discount looks bigger. If you’ve been tracking a knife, you’ll know a real deal when you see one.
